Canon 350D Shutter Count
Can you check it, which software build to use, and what counts as a healthy number (known as the Rebel XT · Kiss N in some regions).
✗ No — the shutter count cannot be read on the Canon 350D.
The 350D uses a DIGIC II processor, a generation Canon locked down: shutter-count access over the SDK isn’t available on these bodies. See what you can do instead below.

How to check the shutter count on a Canon 350D
Honestly? You can’t — not with this tool, and not with any free third-party software we know of. Here’s what is actually possible:
- Canon service centre: the only party that can read the actuation count on DIGIC II bodies.
- What EOS Digital Info can still do on the 350D via the SDK 3.5 subversion: read the serial number and firmware version, edit owner/artist/copyright strings, and sync the camera clock.
- EXIF file numbering (e.g. IMG_9842) is not the shutter count — it resets and can be misleading. See count vs file number.
Buying a used 350D? Do this instead
Without a readable shutter count, judge the body by condition: listen to the shutter, check the mirror box, inspect the sensor, and ask for sample images at all ISOs. Buy from a retailer with a return policy — KEH and MPB grade used bodies and offer warranties.
